He led workshops and did demonstrations for many art clubs in Keighley, Bingley and Wharfedale, but some years ago had to retired from teaching when his wife, Sara, became seriously ill, Jeremy has recently returned to painting and the new show will feature new work, as well as paintings completed in his famously popular oil and watercolour classes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_gallery admin_label=&#8221;JT Gallery&#8221; gallery_ids=&#8221;4460,4378,4374,4368,4377,4373,4371,4376,4375,4370,4366,4365,4364,4363,4362,4367&#8243; posts_number=&#8221;24&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.20.2&#8243; hover_overlay_color=&#8221;rgba(255,255,255,0.9)&#8221; \/][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;PB Text&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.20.2&#8243; background_color=&#8221;#000000&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h4>Pam Brumby<\/h4>\n<p>It\u2019s perhaps a feature of classes such as Jeremy\u2019s that those who were already experienced painters chose to continue to attend despite reaching an advanced state of competence. &nbsp;Pam Bumby was actually an art teacher in her own right, but found the group\u2019s beneficial and enjoyable. In the exhibition Pam is showing a selection of works in her current medium, oils and loves the challenge of painting outside. \u201cI&#8217;m inspired by the changing light on the landscape, and by how it affects atmosphere and colour. I&#8217;m particlurly drawn to places where there&#8217;s evidence of the people who lived there, the industrial and coastal towns and villages of Yorkshire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_gallery admin_label=&#8221;PB Gallery&#8221; gallery_ids=&#8221;4385,4386,4387,4389,4390,4391,4393,4392,4388&#8243; posts_number=&#8221;15&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.20.2&#8243; hover_overlay_color=&#8221;rgba(255,255,255,0.9)&#8221; \/][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;AA Text&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.20.2&#8243; background_color=&#8221;#000000&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h4>Ann Allan<a href=\"http:\/\/davidstarleyartist.com\/bingley\/wp-content\/uploads\/Anne-Allen-photo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4396\" src=\"http:\/\/davidstarleyartist.com\/bingley\/wp-content\/uploads\/Anne-Allen-photo-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"135\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davidstarleyartist.com\/bingley\/wp-content\/uploads\/Anne-Allen-photo-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/davidstarleyartist.com\/bingley\/wp-content\/uploads\/Anne-Allen-photo.jpg 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 135px) 100vw, 135px\" \/><\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Anne\u00a0 describes her art, and the classes she attended before Jeremy\u2019s as \u2018just dabbliing\u2019. but then signed up to one by him and continued for 15 years loving every one, learning much and gaining in confidence with every lesson. \u00a0Her art took a new direction when she took up Chinese brush painting and calligraphy, even attending a course at the International Academy of Art in Hangzhou, China. She is a founder member of the Yorkshire Group of the Chinese Brush Painters Society, of which she is Secretary and Co-Chairman. After leaving school, she attended Bradford Art College and went on to work within the fields of exhibition and printing and later left to dedicate her time to raising her young family. I was hooked after my first visit! I realised that, even after taking art at O and A level, although I knew a lot of techniques and theory, I had never been taught how to paint. Jeremy\u2019s classes were wonderful, enlightening and rewarding as well as entertaining! Bradford born and raised, at 76 years he\u2019s unlikely to move away. It was after a health scare in 2003 that he took up painting: \u201cI started with watercolours thinking that was the easy way&#8230; We live and learn! I was then directed to Jeremy Taylor&#8217;s evening classes, and thus learned from the very beginning all the pitfalls and traps to (hopefully!) avoid. It is always something a bit special; a chance for regular exhibitors to prepare new work, the past year\u2019s soloists to return with potential Christmas offerings and to give space to new artists who have caught the eye during the year. The front exhibition space in the gallery may have as many as 20 artists work on show. There is always a little uncertainty as to what turns up on installation day, but an eclectic mix can be expected, with no themes, no tonal co-ordination- and a huge range of media- a true Christmas Variety Show, with something to suit all tastes. With concerns over the global supply chain in the run up to Christmas, it is good to know that locally produced goods are still available, with the additional benefits of minimal, transport-related, carbon emissions, support for local producers, and the survival of independent retailers. The Bingley Gallery, has been based on Park Road, Bingley for the past 15 years, originally under the ownership of Jane Fielder and more recently by David Starley.
