A new exhibition at Bingley Gallery, The Veil of the Land, features ethereal Yorkshire landscapes by Halifax-based master painter William Morrison.

DO JOIN US FOR THE LAUNCH EVENT 7-9pm THURS 3 SEPTEMBER

William Morrison is a landscape painter based in Halifax whose oil paintings are deeply informed by the moorlands of West Yorkshire, with their shifting mists, changing weather and expansive horizons. Born in Scotland and brought up in Yorkshire, Morrison explores the relationship between land, atmosphere and memory, creating works that reflect both the physical character of a place and its emotional resonance.

Working primarily in oil, Morrison uses a restrained palette to evoke the subdued tones of the moors and the subtle transitions of light and weather. The stillness before rain, the softness of mist and the drama of approaching storms are recurring elements in his work. Rather than treating the landscape as static, he captures its constant transformation through shifts in light, colour and mood.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_gallery admin_label=”WM Gallery” gallery_ids=”9952,9992,9953,9954,9955,9956,9957,9958,9982,9959,9960,9995,9994,9993,9991,9990,9989,9961,9962,9963,9988,9987,9986,9985,9984,9983,9965″ posts_number=”30″ _builder_version=”3.20.2″ hover_overlay_color=”rgba(255,255,255,0.9)” /][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”3.20.2″ background_color=”#000000″ custom_padding=”31px|0px|30.8167px|0px|false|false”][et_pb_row background_color_1=”#000000″ _builder_version=”3.20.2″ background_color=”#000000″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Intro” _builder_version=”3.20.2″ background_color=”#000000″] A new exhibition at Bingley Gallery, The Veil of the Land, features ethereal Yorkshire landscapes by Halifax-based master painter William Morrison. It is always something a bit special; a chance for regular exhibitors to prepare new work, the past year’s soloists to return with potential Christmas offerings and to give space to new artists who have caught the eye during the year. The front exhibition space in the gallery may have as many as 20 artists work on show. There is always a little uncertainty as to what turns up on installation day, but an eclectic mix can be expected, with no themes, no tonal co-ordination- and a huge range of media- a true Christmas Variety Show, with something to suit all tastes. With concerns over the global supply chain in the run up to Christmas, it is good to know that locally produced goods are still available, with the additional benefits of minimal, transport-related, carbon emissions, support for local producers, and the survival of independent retailers. The Bingley Gallery, has been based on Park Road, Bingley for the past 15 years, originally under the ownership of Jane Fielder and more recently by David Starley. Both are artists themselves, and both continue the tradition of supporting many other talented artists that work in our region by providing exhibition space and marketing for them.

[25

post-9951","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-exhibitions
["GET
