John Douglas – Woodworker
John Douglas Woodworker…and more
John, a retired engineer, turned artist, constantly experiments with materials and techniques. His polished wood creations frequently feature inlays of resin or contrasting woods or less commonly forged steel. Techniques run from lathe turning to laser cutting. Among his latest works are collaborative pieces integrating the ceramics of Nadine Blakemore which they make under the name ‘Blend’. Douglas’s visits to the gallery are always engaging; alongside unexpected finished works, or work in progress, his car boot seems to always contain variety of timbers—sourced or reclaimed—heading back to his workshop to await the inspiration that matches the material.
John also collaborates with ceramacist Nadine Blakemore to create their ‘Blend’ artworks
