About the Artist

Albert Edward Black 1883-1950

A chance find of a pencil and wash view of Bolton Abbey, on the back of which the artists address was given as 40 Malborough Rd, Bradford (Manningham), led me to research this artist. He seems to have moved from running a business which produced bobbins for the weaving trade, to that of an art dealer in Halifax (The move to Bradford came only towards the end of his life). He was also an artist in his own right, particularly of pencil drawings.
