Thurs 9 January  to Sunday 23 February 2020

Lots of artwork at heavily reduced prices. It’s a combination of a traditional sale with significant reductions on normal selling prices and an ‘Under the Bed’ sale (pioneered by Sheffield’s Crucible Gallery, I think), for which artists dig out older works and offer them at very tempting prices. It’s a great searching ground for serious collectors who are interested in works from the early years of artists’ careers, or simply bargain hunters looking for more affordable original art which may be less than half its original price. Reductions include David’s 2020 ‘For the Love of Trees’ calendars which are now at 75% off.

At the same time, all other work in the gallery will be discounted by 10%, to provide a little extra incentive to those who have previously wavered over a purchase.

The Bingley Gallery sale also has a fund-raising aspect. A print has been donated and is being sold to support a working visit to Malaysia by a group of young people from St. Peter’s Church, Shipley. It’s one of a limited edition of 250 copies signed by no lesser artist than Sir Peter Blake entitled ‘David Hockney in a Hollywood Spanish Interior’ and featuring the local boy made good.
